Wow. With a Mum like that he'll never be tempted to sign up to the WTS. Good on him for doing what he's doing - you must be very proud Mr. Flipper.

Is it too late?

Hi Hikaru,
I don't think you have committed the unforgivable sin biblically. I would suggest that it's never too late to do what one believes is right, and that it's not healthy to base decisions like this on fear. God wouldn't want you to serve him as part of any group just because your scared that if you don't he will kill you.
Deciding what is the right thing to do in an open and honest fashion, without rushing, is important. If God were to see that you are taking the time to research the bible and its message he is hardly going to crush you just because you hadn't committed yourself to one brand of organised religion. With this in mind, can I recommend you a book? It's written by a scholar and is intended to correct misconceptions of what the literature in the bible really is.
It's called "How to Read the Bible: History, Prophecy, Literature -- Why Modern Readers Need to Know the Difference, and What It Means for Faith Today" and is written by Steven L. McKenzie, a scholar of Hebrew. In it you will learn things that many apocalyptic bible groups, such as Jehovah's Witnesses and many others, do not wish you to know, because they rely on people taking their word for things whlist pretending that their research is trustworthy. Once you have read the book, which has a section on apocalyptica, you will be in a far better position to decide on how to worship. I cannot emphasise enough that this small investment will save you so much.
The doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses is not original; it is derived from Seventh Day Adventism, which is derived from the teachings of a man called William Miller. Research how Miller came up with his interpretations, and what he eventually acknowledged.
Final thought: if something's worth doing, it's worth doing properly, so don't let anyone fear or guilt you into rushing anything. All the best, and feel free to post back if you like. -

WOULD JW's READ THIS?
by Mickey mouse ini just posted this to oracle's thread but didn't want to hijack it so i thought i'd start my own.
i think emails are a potentially effective way of conveying information to jw's, they love firing them off to all their friends.
could we get some information in under the radar in this manner...?.

Spelling corrections, grammatical tweaks and an addition to the intro:
Hello fellow brothers and sisters,
I hope you are all well and enjoying your service to Jehovah, which he no doubt values very much. Our ministry, especially, is more of a challenge than ever. Whilst mainstream groups are losing members, some religions of Babylon the Great, which we learnt about in the Revelation book so recently, use unscrupulous methods to prevent their members from examining their own beliefs. How many times has the door been shut on you before you've even had a chance to share a scripture? It takes extra knowledge and skill to truly reach these people and to help them open their hearts to the truth.
Many of these groups tell their members that THEY are God's sole representatives on earth. So if people ever have doubts about what they have been taught by their leaders, they repress them for fear of losing their relationship with God. Additionally, some groups use phobias to prevent people leaving. Examples include a fear of death, demon influence and losing contact with people in their current religion. From their perspective, our message is seen as an attack from the Devil to undermine their faith! (2 Cor 4:3,4: If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.)
It's easy to see why such people are hard to reach. We owe it to these people to learn about the underhanded methods being used by high control groups so that we are better equipped to help them. Otherwise they could lose out on the opportunity of learning the Bible's true message. Educate yourself about this issue and become a more effective teacher. -

Nice work. Here's my suggested revision, tweaked in order to attempt to bypass the "apostameter":

Should God be convicted of war crimes???
by chuckyy injust recently thinking of instances in old testament when jehovah instructed his people to slaughter animals, women, and even children.
if a human being today instructed an army to do this, wouldn't he be convicted of genocide/war crimes???.
